Redfield High School Musicians Showcase Two Concerts

Redfield High School musicians presented two balanced programs this week to fund expenses for regional contests and other music activities. Tuesday featured the girls glee club and a 55 piece symphony orchestra, while Wednesday showcased the a capella chorus, girls trio, string quartet, concert band, and eight soloists led by F. H. Johnson. soloists representing Redfield in the regional competition also appeared, including Robert Beckman and Janet Chapman among others.

Home on furlough from navy enlistment stories

Oliver Jensen Blaine Newman and Arthur Schroeder recently enlisted in the navy and aviation service. They are on short furlough at home before headed to California for service. Newman and Schroeder serve in hospital corps. Jensen serves in aviation. Mr and Mrs M K Finley and son Tommy visited Brookings over the weekend. Mrs Finley subsisted as teacher while sister served in Texas.

Wessington Couple Celebrates Golden Wedding

About 150 relatives and friends attended an open house in Wessington at the Lawrence Spicer home honoring Mr and Mrs H E Gamble on their golden wedding anniversary. Sons and daughters present included Ralph Gamble William Gamble and Mrs George C Johnson Others unable to attend included Mrs Claude Flinger and Miss Mabel Gamble. Out of town guests joined in the celebration with Teadings, dks and musical selections and a lunch served by the WGN Extension Club. A six o'clock dinner for 40 relatives featured a gold candle lighted table and gold decor.
