DETROIT March 1 More than 5 000 sit down strikers defied a court injunction occupying Chrysler plants and surrounding the Jefferson Avenue plant with traffic blocked. About 10 000 sympathizers ringed the Dodge division, as strikers chanted Liberty or give us death. Governor Murphy faced reports of a potential meeting of Chrysler and John L Lewis with Walter P. Reuther’s union. Attorneys warned of further injunction steps. sheriff Wilcox would serve writs of attachment for any violators.
CARPENTER March 17 Special A 22 calibre bullet instantly killed Jack Andrews 12 as he held a gun between his knees to clean it. The accident occurred about 9 am at his parents home, Carl and Mrs. Andrews, who run a local pool hall. He was found dead after family heard the shot. Luck would have been 14 this month and attended seventh grade. Survived by parents two brothers Billy and Kenneth and two sisters Verlyn and Sherrill. Body taken to Vienna for funeral services yet to be set.
