Mayor Walker Faced With Push for Citywide Inquiry
A petition to Governor Roosevelt and Albany lawmakers demands a thorough probe into Mayor Walker’s administration. The Society for the Prevention of Crime accuses a laissez faire stance toward corruption and urges Samuel Seabury to lead sweeping investigations. A citizen’s committee of 1000 forms to back the effort alongside several civic groups. In other news, Patrolman Sydney D. Tait was found guilty of perjury in a related court case.
