Good Sportsman Theme On Radio Conserves Wild Life
Vermillion March 11 The Good Sportsman was the topic of a radio talk on conservation of wild life by W H Over naturalist and curator of the University of South Dakota museum over KUSD Monday night He urged preservation of wildlife that cannot vote or defend itself noting large wastes from greed and carelessness He estimated over ten million Americans are wildlife lovers about seven million hunting and fishing licenses are issued and many used to kill He warned the fast to kill remains strong and described ducks and fish buried in South Dakota He traced balance before white settlement and said Indians killed only what they needed to live He cited the leap limit to aid game preservation and criticized Walton League members for offenses against restraint.

One Act Play Series Planned At Yankton

Timber Crop Harvested In Black Hills National Forest
Large timber valued at 7 734 was cut in February in the Black Hills National Forest. March output is expected to match February as railroad tie and grain door purchases decline. Lumber from the forest is sold to railroads with Harney forest nearby finding a strong railway market. A survey of land cruising operations was presented at the annual forest officials meeting. Twenty thousand acres have been cruised under Ely Dickson, Sheriff, Wyoming. Contracts for land exchange were discussed to assess suitability for agricultural and forest uses.

Madison Gains New Train Service Schedule Change
Madison gains another passenger train and improved service as H G Gregerson the Milwaukee railroad station agent announces a revised schedule effective this week. The Wessington Springs line now arrives Madison at 9 35 p m instead of 10 35 and a new Madison Sioux Falls run begins. Gregerson expects several new families to move to Madison due to the enhanced service.
