The Maritime Commission announced it took possession of the Italian ship Jara the first of 26 aging vessels laid up in U S waters. Jara 6131 gross tons was seized at Savannah Georgia yesterday. The Clara will be drydocked at Newport News Virginia before entering service. The Vassel’s future assignment had not been decided.

Two Killed En Route to North Dakota Funeral
In Sioux City two women Doris Schutt and Amelia Lindee died when their car plunged down a 10 foot bank near Wause Nebraska on the way to a funeral in Ellendale North Dakota. Two male relatives William Dietrich Sr and William Lindee Jr were taken to a hospital for treatment. The six were bound for services for Mrs Herb Ochiltree. Later in Sioux Falls Arthur Runyan 60 South Dakota inventor sailing man died at Tekamah Nebraska with services pending.
