Aberdeen June 18 Odd Fellows closed their 1991 grand lodge session with the installation of Grand Master H C Harris of Highmore and other officers elected at the final business session. The 1931 grand lodge meeting will be held at Rapid City with Watertown invited. New officers include Deputy Grand Master W A Bauman and Grand Secretary F B Raymond who will keep headquarters at Huron. Eighth time Raymond has been elected grand secretary.
Edward R. Cass of New York attacked county jails as training schools for crime before a national social work conference. He urged that jails reflect reform priorities, not punishment, noting idleness and abuse of the fee system as key defects. Richard K. Conant predicted unpaid boards would advance welfare policy and staffing.
New York June 19 The rise of the Goldbergs will be on the air daily except Sunday and Tuesday starting July 13 on WEAF NBC at 545 p m The program features Gertrude Berg as Mollie Goldberg. Dr. Grosvenor of Huron reports from Philadelphia where more than 6,000 physicians registered for the American Medical Association gathering. He served as South Dakota medical society president 1923 30 and is now president of the South Dakota eye ear nose and throat academy. The 1932 convention will be in New Orleans.
