Inaccuracy Laid To Low Salaries Don
Rapid City, June 18. State Auditor William Dunn blamed low salaries for county officials and infrequent record checks for a large number of irregularities in South Dakota counties. He cited 1925 census data showing average monthly salaries for county treasurers and auditors at 148.73 and for clerks of courts, registers of deeds, and school superintendents at 135.24, urging salary hikes and better audit practices.
