Real Patriotism Of Selectees Is Measured By Attitudes Toward Classification
RAPID CITY June 6 Special The patriotism of a registrant in Class 1-B shows in how he reacts to his status Col E A Beckwith state director of Selective Service says Some feel lucky to be disqualified but true patriots seek remedy to qualify as a soldier Teeth defects main cause of 1-B yet bridgework can move some to 1-A Affordability limits many to remedy Government may later rehabilitate purchasable cases at public expense but not yet adopted Those who can afford to correct defects should do so for patriotism and health The worst slacker is one who pulls teeth or otherwise becomes unfit to avoid service Such acts skip waivers and they are inducted anyway Col Beckwith concludes

The study, by W F Rumlein of the South Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station with WPA, notes two types of common organization and the long history from territorial times through 1883 legislative changes.
