Confessed Slayer At Deaths Door In Winona Case
Roy Ashley of Beaver Dam Wisconsin was formally accused of murder by a coroner s jury and lay near death in a Winona hospital after confessing to slaying Evelyn Brown also of Beaver Dam. He enticed the 15 year old girl from her home and killed her after an automobile ride to a farm where he stopped to water the radiator. Evelyn cried out she had been kidnapped and Ashley struck her with a bottle then took the gun and shot her after taking the weapon from the girl. The body will be sent back to Beaver Dam for burial.

Great Northern Tornado Disrupts Freight Train
SIOUX FALLS June 4 The Great Northern railroad office reports three box cars blown off a siding near Windom Minnesota by a small tornado last night onto the main line. The line was cleared by a wrecker and train service remained uninterrupted. No further damage reported locally. A separate Fargo incident nearby recently killed one person when struck by a tornado.

Youth Drowns as Family Looks On Trail City
Ben Carl an 11 year old drowned in a small lake near his home Tuesday evening while his family tried to rescue him. Exhaustion and cramps are believed to have caused his death. The body was recovered after fifteen minutes in five feet of water. The boy swam with companions while his parents fished from a boat at the lake center. They were near the far shore when he drowned and shouts for help were not immediately answered.
