Two Dakotans Fly In Oschersieben Raid
Two men from the Dakotas took part in the Oschersieben raid with American bombers. Lt Arvid F. Dahl of Columbus North Dakota served as navigator on the Shackeroo and, despite clouds, reported bombs hitting the target area in flames. Staff Sgt Slabio Mirabel of Gallup New Mexico, ball turret gunner, noted the Fortress crew piloted by Lt Sterling Bassler from Rapid City South Dakota reached the target. A second brief notes a farewell party for Supt and Mrs George Van Denbas at Cavour Lake as they prepare to move to Irwin.

Two Receive Fines For Disturbing Peace
At a hearing before Justice H Lyle in Wellington Springs on charges of disturbing the peace at Alpena July 17, Fran cis Emmster and Martin Garbe were fined 50 dollars and costs and given one year suspended jail terms. Gene Einster and George Lang waived hearing and were bound over to November circuit court. Gus Garbe was released.
