Rules Teachers To Have S D Training In Civics History
Pierre July 23 Attorney General Clar Roddewig today said applicants for elementary school teaching certificates must have at least a quarter hour credit in both South Dakota history and civics. J F Hines Superintendent of Public Instruction asked the attorney general to inspect 1937 legislation revising requisites for all certificates issued after June 30 1937. Northern State Teachers College Aberdeen protested immediate enforcement as retroactive and said prospective applicants started study before enactment should be given time to finish without these credits.

Higher Beef Prices Expected This Summer and Fall
BROOKINGS July report from the Bureau of Agricultural Economics says beef prices across most slaughter cattle grades are likely to stay higher than last year into late summer and early fall. Slaughter supplies are expected smaller in late 1943, with consumer demand holding near current high levels despite an anticipated weaker price for lower grades. Demand for stocker and feeder cattle should support slaughter cattle prices, though more cattle on feed may depress better grades next winter and spring.
