Men Begin WPA Work At Ravine Park Dam
Fifteen men start a WPA improvement project at Ravine Lake Park to repair the dam and remove weeds as seepage is checked. A beth hour building at the lake is planned later this week with the same crew. State WPA data note two more men join Beadle County work in August. Twenty two men leave for North Dakota harvest fields from Huron, though only 22 of the 100 called will be found for the Fargo Wahpeton district. Transients are directed to Wahpeton for work opportunities.

Large Planes To Cut Flying Time Between Huron and Bismarck
Hanford Airlines will cut twelve minutes from the Huron to Bismarck route with Chief Liner planes starting August 1. The airmail schedule shows departures from Huron at 9:30 a.m. and Bismarck at 3:10 p.m. with arrivals in Aberdeen and Huron at stated times. The new fleet includes 10 passenger Chief Liners on all routes, replacing four passenger Lockheed Vegas currently used on Huron to Bismarck.

Rain At Faulkton Aids Forage Crops
Faulkton and vicinity received a shower Saturday afternoon totaling about a sixth of an inch. The rain came in torrents for a few minutes with a strong wind and hail. It will boost corn millet cane and other forage crops badly needing moisture and provide a cooling break during recent extreme heat.

Bonilla Buildings Wrecked By Wind
A July storm caused extensive damage as wind toppled the front of Hugh McKichan’s store and destroyed all buildings except a farmhouse on the Merlyn Kenison farm. The A C Milles barn was moved from its foundation and Com suffered heavy hail damage amid heavy rain.

Two Injured In Yale Car Crash
Yale reports a car overturn near Yale ball park injuring four aboard. Jake Lan cer, Irvin Stab of Huron suffer severe cuts and broken bones. Alan Walters and Ralph Hobm have minor scratches. Glanzer and Stahl sustain fractures while others escape. They were taken to a Huron hospital for treatment.
