Harvest In Sanborn Reveals Bumper Yields Yet Failures Reported
Special farm report from Sanborn County notes varied conditions across Jackson and Afton townships. Northeastern fields show promise with small grain and corn likely to yield well, especially oats on J M Lyftogt’s land, while Afton records range from 30 to 40 bushels per acre to as low as five to ten. Grasshoppers damage some fields, and southern Afton fears under 15 bushels per acre absent rain. Corn north of Forestburg appears best, with rain needed to push bumper crop prospects.
