Farmers Urged to Cut Wheat Acreage Plan

Brookings July 21 outlines a cooperative wheat price support plan. Farmers may reduce acreage by up to two percent of the three year average to receive payments funded by a flour milling tax. County associations will organize districts and voting will be based on 1903 wheat acreages. Payments split this fall and next spring, with publication of allotments and a mechanism for complaints. Vermillion July 2 Fur robe made from ante lope fur and other beasts was sent to the Taunt at the auction for kin. The leopard returned for more fur the next evening and was killed.

King's Heralds Hold Meeting at Wayland

At Wayland in July 71 special meeting of the King’s Heralds was held with Carl Ravenscroft entertaining members formerly Bailes. A social time followed the business session. Named attendees included Clara Ravenscroft, Medea Genitt Borkhius, Louis Borkhius, Leo Carlsen, Martin Wood, Ernest Gadow, Peter Olson, Charles Kaltadhnes, William Hart and Margaret Ravenscroft. Lunch was served at five o'clock.

Johnson Rites to Be Held Saturday in Platte

Funeral services for Edwin S. Johnson former U S senator who died Wednesday will be held Saturday at 10 a m in the Federated church. From there the body will be taken to Armour for final rites. Grow Creek Dam Project Planned in Gan Valley

July 21 report from Gan Valley outlines final arrangements for building a dam on Grow Creek. The site near Paha bluffs will create a lake about 20 acres, supporting a government reforestation camp with manual labor from the camp. Two smaller dams on the Crow Creek Anchor reservation in western Buffalo County are to be completed as part of the reforestation effort.

Abernathy reports that the American Legion post has received notice of a special board chaired by department HQs and Roosevelt appointees to reexamine veterans with presumptive service connection. The five-member board will review about 11 cases daily and stay in session about 100 days at the Watertown office, with local post notifying county veterans receiving disability compensation.

Moody County Cleans Up Last Of Its Debts

Moody County, South Dakota, has paid the last courthouse bonds, ending debt for the county. With about 10,000 residents, Moody is among the state’s oldest counties, built courthouse in 1914 at about $125,000 with equipment, and features good roads, bridges, and a county farm for the poor with a large home and outbuildings.
