Phosphorus boosts early growth in sorghum wheat and oats
Farmers at the substation observed phosphorus promotes early maturity in sorghum and grains. Oats and wheat on treated soil reached maturity about 10 days sooner than on untreated land. Doctor Hume noted profits uncertain but benefits grow, with recent five year trends showing clear effects. Subsoiling improved yields over plowing in tests, while seed-bed prep for oats involved harrowing and discing prior to planting.
