Allied fighters, including squadrons, swept over northern France this morning in brilliant sun, destroying seven German fighters without loss. Berlin reported British night raids on Germany. Huron Woman Drowns When Boat Overturns At Spink County Dam

A Huron woman, Mrs Floyd Ohm, died after the boat she rode with her husband overturned near Spink County Dam 22 miles north of Huron on Sunday. They clung to opposite ends for 20 to 30 minutes as rescue lines and a chalkline were used. Mrs Ohm disappeared beneath the boat and rescue efforts could not revive her. The incident followed a quiet Fourth of July weekend with an auto collision and a rodeo rehearsal accident noted.

Nearly All Miners Back At Coal Jobs

Pittsburgh July 6 The nation’s third big coal strike, which began June 20, virtually ended as United Mine Workers leaders said fewer than 9,000 of 521,000 miners remained idle. Most holdouts were in District 9 eastern Pennsylvania archaic belt where about eight collieries totaling 4,500 men were still out.
