Vermillion January 25 Special judge C C Puckett Yankton will be the next speaker on the State University You and Your Government series over WNAX Sunday at 630 p m. His talk will cover the state court system with emphasis on the state supreme court. The address is the fourth of six on problems duties and services of state offices. Further talks will follow on county municipal and school government.
In Watertown hospital Willow Lake on January 25 J G Meester is listed as a patient in Bartron hospital in Watertown.
Mrs. Matt Langenfeld of Watertown Nebraska suffered multiple injuries when her car was struck by a freight train at the Dawson crossing. Her sister Mrs. Mary Wagner of Sleepy Eye Minnesota was severely bruised as she tried to flee the wreckage. The driver jumped clear as the car skidded onto the tracks and was spun around by the train.
In Vermillion January 25 special report Mark Wagner of Corsica won the state university oratorical contest title with Roscoe Dean of Wessington Springs taking second place. The judge was Leroy Laase head of the Hastings College speech department Hastings Nebraska. Wagner will represent the university in the state contest at Mitchell in February.
A hot lunch program began this week at Willow Lake School under home economics instructor Mrs. Ruth Rod. A hot dish is served to every rural pupil at noon.

Clara Crouch presided, with Clyde Fite assisting. sessions covered school arts, grammar instruction, and kindness to animals clubs. musical numbers and puppet show by local pupils accompanied the program.
Miller P E O chapter members and guests heard Miss Pyle of Huron discuss aspects of P and Mrs Redmond BE offered comments on current literature. Out of town guests included Mrs Roy Miller and Mrs Carl Moe of Huron Chapter F and Mrs S M Crawford of Spearfish Chapter Ny.
Miller January 25 Special A program and dance followed the annual banquet of the Miller Volunteer fire department in the sum here Monday evening P J Gunn state insurance commissioner was the principal speaker on the program that included a talk by Mayor W E Burke an address of welcome by J G Cummings veteran fire chief a talk by Dr M W Pang burn and presentation of badges by A Schroeder Esther McMurty gave a reading and Maxine Erb sang a solo accompanied by Mrs M W Wiseman The badges awarded for attendance at every fire and every department meeting during the year were given to J G Cummings A C Schroeder H W Beadhes HR Jackson Lowell Blakslee Harry Corrin Joe Bart and John Meyer The banquet was served by the women of the Methodist Aid.
Winchester Dickson, long-time Hitchcock area farmer, died November 27, 1938, in Medford Oregon after a period of ill health. Born near Armstrong Illinois, he moved to Hitchcock as a child and lived on a local farm. His first wife Pearley Inman died in 1936, he remarried in 1938 to Hattie B. Dickson who survives. He leaves two sisters Anna Fetters Wheeler Michigan and Sarah Goings San Bernardino California and a brother John P. Dickson Missouri Valley Iowa.
