Bays Scouts of Huron and nearby areas will compete in an anniversary rally at Huron high Sehgal gym on February 1 with events including inspection knot tying Morse signaling first aid and patrol demonstrations. Rallies also take place in Pierre on February 11 Miller on February 23 and Redfield on February 15 with points counting toward the Achievement contest.

Funeral today for F Coleman former city marshal
Funeral services were held today for Fred Coleman former city marshal in Miller. He served as marshal for years and resigned two months ago due to ill health. The Witthodist Church services were conducted by the Mesonic lodge of which Coleman was a member. Death was due to paralysis of the throat. He is survived by a wife and two children.

Ice Harvest Starts Across South Dakota Statewide
Pierre January 22 The first part of winter ice harvesting in South Dakota is under way. Thousands of tons of ice are taken from streams and lakes to supplement that manufactured and shipped into the state. Mitchell ice company plans about 28 000 tons this season with 27 men employed. At Pierre, ice cutting operates on the Missouri River main channel as beaches and equipment are set up. Laborers across the state find work in the annual harvest.
