South Dakota considers basic science licensure bill
Introduced in this session likely this week, the basic science measure would create a state board of examiners to test applicants for licenses to practice the healing arts. Endorsed by the State Medical Association, the bill aims to curb untrained quacks and imposters while reflecting conditions in South Dakota. The five-member board would include physicians and scientists, with governor appointment. Opinions on the bill vary among legislators and medical groups.
