Legion Invited by Miller Post for February Event

Miller post invites Huron Legionnaires to attend a celebration at Miller on February 5 and 6 2007. A committee may move the meeting to Miller on February 7. A proposed monthly magazine for the Huron post was authorized for investigation and possible publication. Paul McNutt visit was noted but no official visit planned.

Bandits Shoot Bank Emploees In Harlem Robbery

Five holdup men storm Franklin Trust and Savings Bank on Thirty-fifth Street in Harlem firing more than five minutes. They seized about $2,000 before fleeing. Cashier Edgar Olson was wounded in the arm and hand, assistant cashier Leo Paquette hit in the leg, and guard Martin Hynena seriously wounded. About a dozen shots were fired during the exchange.

Roy Housman, local auctioneer, testifies for plaintiff alleging eight purebred Shorthorn cattle bought in 1919 were tubercular. J. M. The Marion State Bank in Marion announced a liquidation payout totaling 59.92 percent. A final dividend of 9.32 percent was declared from asset liquidation, part of ongoing pension payments and settlements.

Tornado Kills Nine in Winter Storm Hits Cape Girardeau

The Associated Press reports four tornadoes swept through Cape Girardeau Missouri Maunie and Fort Branch Indiana causing nine deaths including Marjoria Hargrave four Buddie Hargrave three Dorothy Man Hoenry twelve and Bernice Tucker. Fifteen students were injured at Maunie as two schoolhouses were blown down. Farm buildings were wrecked and homes in the area suffered damage.

Six persons were seriously injured and a furniture store, a motion picture theatre, a grocery and a restaurant were destroyed by an explosion at Gratiot and Harper in Detroit. Damage was about 250000 dollars. Police believe the bombing was reprisal for the fatal shooting of an Italian marcher in a Columbus Day parade last October. Lampe Farm Fire Destroys Home. Family Escapes

A Lampe Market company farm home on Twenty second street and Lawn Ridge avenue burned early today, destroying the $15,000 dwelling. Five occupants escaped with their lives as fire defeated by insufficient water mains and rapid flames. G C Lampe, A J Kiester, and Mrs Lampe led family to safety through a dormer window, while Lampe’s neighbor aided with a ladder. no clear cause found and all furnishings were lost.

Mitchell party in wreck on icy highway near Sioux Falls

A car carrying Ainsley, R. Nelson, C. D. Dickinson and two others from Mitchell skidded on an icy road seven miles west of Sioux Falls, overturning into a ditch while en route to a tri state prom. Both the driver and one passenger were hurt and hospitalized. the party was returning to Mitchell after the incident.
