End Of Election Contest Closes Long Beadle County Race
A long Beadle County sheriff election contest ended with Judge Alva E. Taylor ruling that Don R. Huntley, a Democrat, should be sheriff after recounting 104 votes from Huron precinct three. Larsen, the former sheriff and his wife Lyda G. Larsen, were central figures in a dispute that spanned more than a year and drew potential appeals to the state supreme court. Huntley will begin his term January 6, ending decades of Larsen family service in Beadle County law enforcement and public office.
