Forestburg residents prepare a large community fair and carnival to be held March 14 at the Rex theater. The Forestburg PTA sponsors exhibits judged by Mrs. Ethel Rausch and R. A. Cave with prizes for distance and family exhibit counts. Proceeds fund playground equipment and band instruments for the school.

Farmer Loses Stock From Anthrax In Hogs
Springfield area farmer John Lukkes loses one steer and about 20 hogs after feeding carcass of a steer that died of anthrax. Hog deaths followed within days, vet consultation led to lab confirmation of anthrax. Lukkes had over 85 cattle, believing them immunized, but this case slipped through.

Miller Feb 27 A pardon hearing for M J Bute is set for April 7 at Pierre. Bute, a former deputy state sheriff, was convicted four years ago in Faulkton of shooting and killing Pond near Pierre during a liquor stop. He received eight months in jail and a $500 fine after Faulkton trial. the Supreme Court affirmed the verdict, with a rehearing sought.
