Mickey Walker Prevails Over Risko in Middleweight Bout

Mickey Walker dominated Johnny Risko in a ten round middleweight bout, winning a unanimous decision on all scorecards. Walker weighed just under the limit and used sharp left hooks and crosses to wear Risko down, especially in the ninth and tenth rounds. The Associated Press tally had Walker six rounds to Risko four, with 20,000 spectators present and a gate around $28,000 as Schmeling and Stribling exhibitions drew interest. Walker may skip defending the middleweight crown to pursue heavyweight opportunities, with Primo Carnera looming as a futurs foe in prospects for 1931.
