Better Homes Week Promotes South Dakota Home Extention Clubs
In South Dakota, over 20 thousand women and girls joined home extension and 4-H clubs in 1946. During the year 15,594 meetings with 215,672 attendees were held, with 251,371 better home practices adopted across cooking, sanitation, furnishings, and home management. Special staff and 40 county leaders support the program, disseminating guidance from State College. Production of cigarettes reached 18,814,602,886 in December, one billion more than the prior year.

Rev Disrud Takes California Church Pastor Move
The Rev Disrud who led American Lutheran Church in Huron from 1924 to 1937 has moved to Van Nuys California to serve as pastor of the new Central Lutheran Church. He left Huron in 1937 for Immanuel Lutheran in Wauau Wisconsin and was followed by supply pastors until Rev Sander Tollefson assumed duties in fall 1938. Installation of Rev Disrud at Van Nuys was held last Sunday in a special service led by Rev H S Foss with many former South Dakotans in attendance. The family currently resides in Los Angeles with Mrs Disrud’s mother while awaiting a home in Van Nuys.
