Mundt Plan To Aid Britain Bill Beaten In House

House supporters of the administration aid to Britain bill defeated Mundt’s amendment proposing a $2,000,000,000 credit fund. The vote was 145 to 22. Mundt argued the fund would empower presidential security for loans. Other amendments sought limits on presidential contracting power and clarity on convoy use and neutrality act constraints. Senate hearings continued with Col McCormick Lindbergh and MacNider testifying amid opposition to the aid bill.
