Ruling Sought On Fairground Road Rights In Huron
The State Fair Board will ask the attorney general to rule on whether it may elicit control of the east west road just north of the fairgrounds or if the city of Huron holds the right to keep it open. A decision followed a City Commission and Fair board meeting to seek permission to petition the Civil Works Administration to grade and gravel the road. The road, though once fair board property, has long served as a public thoroughfare, city lawyers argued. The board noted plans to move fairground fences this spring to include the roadway and the city said the road is needed to move grain to elevators along Market Road.
