Federal Agencies Plan To Launch Counter-Offensive Against Drouth

Federal forces plan a relief irrigation counter-offensive against drought in several regions next spring. The Bureau of Reclamation will lead with engineering, followed by WPA labor and FSA project management. Approved sites include Buford-Trenton in North Dakota Buffalo Rapids No. 2 in Montana and Rapid Valley near Rapid City with costs totaling about 9 million across three schemes and more to come under Wheeler-Case act funding.
