Enrollment Gain At U Much Greater Than Appropriations
Vermillion December 3 The University of South Dakota has seen enrollment rise far faster than appropriations over ten years, Dr. Herman G. James president said in a radio address. He noted 74 percent enrollment growth vs 17 percent funding increase since 1918 to 1929, urging taxpayers to fund essential needs like repairs, faculty and books to meet mounting demand. He stressed the university is a state institution serving the people, not just officials, and argued that neglecting funds harms the state.
