French Side Of Story On Munich Crisis Reveals New View

French sources describe Munich as exposing France’s limited ability to aid Czechoslovakia without allied support. They cite Britain’s possible two divisions and a few planes as the only likely aid, while Poland and Romania offered little help. Judge rules Langer $40 pension plan unconstitutional

District Judge H L Berry held the Langer $40 minimum age pension plan adopted in the November election unconstitutional. He denied a writ of mandamus to force payment of the $40 regardless of other income, noting funds cannot exceed $30 monthly and the measure violates the state constitution’s reasonable support clause. The ruling raises questions on whether $40 must be paid regardless of need or if recipients’ other income can be counted.
