November 1939 records driest since 1890 in South Dakota
Federal meteorologist BLOR Laskowski described November 1939 as unusually warm and dry for South Dakota, the driest since 1890 and the warmest since 1934. Temperatures averaged 39 degrees, with a 76 degree high at Wagner on the 14th and a two degree low at Ottumwa on the 2nd. Precipitation was scant, except in the eastern third and Black Hills, and surface soil remained largely dry.

Mrs Doty Hosts Doland Auxiliary Meeting
The American Legion Auxiliary met at Mrs W H Doty home on Monday evening. President Mrs Irving Paul reported on the district convention at Faulxton and plans were made to fund Christmas parties for hospitalized veterans at Battle Mountain Sanitarium and for needy children of veterans. Lunch was served by the hostess assisted by Mrs Ida Doly.
