Federal meteorologist B R Laskowski reports South Dakota had near normal temperatures in a dry month with two notable storm events. November moisture was higher than 1987 for the same period, while precipitation occurred in three bursts from the 10th to 12th and 21st to 25th. Extreme temperatures ranged from 82 degrees at Menno to 14 below at Redig and Clark. snow was confined to northern and western counties with heavy falls in the Black Hills. Surface soil remained dry except in the extreme southeast, and high winds caused damage including a tornado at Lennox and destruction of five empty boxcars or roof damage in Sioux Falls.
