Hog and cattle prices dip as market reports show mixed demand

At Armour Stock Yards on December 5 hog prices fell about five cents with top at 5.50 and receipts around 2,000 hogs. Cattle and sheep were steady to higher, with stock steers and calves trading up to 9.50 for productive classes. Hogs in the 240 to 400 pound range commanded 5.75, while 160 to 190 pound pigs brought 5.35 to 5.70. Dressed poultry and turkeys remained steady to firm, with some price variation across fresh and frozen boxes and barrels.
