Wes­nington Springs colleges announce a board rate reduction and fall reopening. Registration Sept 8 9 with classes starting Sept 11. President Harry B Ansted notes lower rates to offset costs. Programs include Associate in Arts and Commerce, teacher training, accounting, stenography, religion, music, and state-accredited high school subjects. Enrollment expected to rise.

Two Cars Crash Near Hand City No Serious Injuries

Lyle and Robert Grey driving a small automobile collided with a car driven by Mr. Gillhouse near Ames. Neither driver saw the other until impact. Gillhouse’s car was badly damaged. the Grey car sustained minor damage. No serious injuries reported. In Redfield Mrs. L. B. Lueck attended the 14th annual national hairdressers convention in Chicago at the Sherman hotel where members voted to adopt NRA standard uniform prices nationwide.

Burdette Township Schools Set to Open September 4

Burdette township will open three schools on Monday September 4 with Sadie Barr teaching Burdette school, Mar ae Crocs the Bushong school, and E Fischer the Bultsian school. No Bingham school this year due to insufficient pupils.

Broadland Club Offers Farewell Party For Members

The Broadland extension club met at Mrs G Stmsort’s home with fifteen members attending. Officers were elected as the group held a farewell gathering for Mrs G E Kaump and Mrs Ralph Kaump. Members created grewell books and gave a handkerchief shower. Lunch concluded the afternoon.

Sioux Falls August reports a Montrose district farmer Arthur Anderson seeking relief from the federal agricultural adjustment program. He cites filled quotas near markets before closer suppliers. requests extension of South Dakota quotas and feed-shortage relief. Local plant officials say the 40,000 pig quota is booked through Sept 15 and no action is possible without higher authorization.

Men Prepare For Fish and Game Exhibit

Workmen at UC fair grounds shape the state game and fish department exhibit for the exposition opening September 11. An artificial lake for wild fowl and fish has been refilled at 40 gallons a minute from a new artesian well after draining this spring due to sewer pipe seepage. new pipes were installed and officials expect no trouble at the lake for years.

Plan To Improve S D Reservations

B C Vaughn district road and relief supervisor in the Indian service, spent a week in Sisseton examining sites for Indian road work and a potential Indian conservation camp. With County Surveyor Harold F Newman, he visited Buffalo Lake, old Fort Sisseton, Big Coulee, the old Indian school, Lind church, and Long Hollow. He favored Long Hollow for an artificial lake and may recommend the project if land arrangements are made, along with several road projects.

James Lewis Rite Obituary at Lake Preston

James Lewis Rite a pioneer of Lake Preston passed away and funeral services were held at the Luther church with a service at 2:00. The music was provided by Mrs A M Baldwin and Mrs H Whipkey with Mr O Jera at the piano. Survived by a son L J Lewis three sisters and several brothers including Ole Mrs Mary Evekke Mrs Morice Mat sor Evan of Long Beach Calif Martin of Sal Ore and Lizie Luzin Colfax Wis. Funeral closed businesses during service.

Erwin School Opens With New Staff Leaders

Erwin public schools will start on Tuesday September 5 with Supt Amon J Tschetter returning to lead a staff headed by Principal Felix Schwartz of Freeman. Gladys Dahlbers centers ville seventh and eighth grades John Schrader Erwin fifth and sixth Vivian Stewart Arlington third and fourth Henrietta Peterson Arlington first and second Cave men Staley Chester. The Erwin Congregations church social aid met at the Wolkow home with sewing afternoon and fried chicken lunch.
