Begin Highway No 18 paving at Canton

Preliminary work on paving U S No 18 through Canton began today with a crew and a pipeline supplying steel and water for the mixer. The project aims for about 10 000 cubic feet of concrete daily if the schedule holds, with actual pours starting within a week. Steel Arrives For New Railroad In Aberdeen

Steel arrives for a new line of the Mound City and Eastern railway from Leola to Long Lake 70 miles long. An engine is to be used to lay steel along the Sioux grade and contractors Minndak Construction and Winston Brothers secured the project. Laying is planned before winter sets in on the Leola to Long Lake stretch. the grade at Long Lake is scarified and ready. Town lots were sold at Zenker and Long Lake last year.

Tourists Wounded in Auto Crash Near Madison

Mr and Mrs Henry Travers of Los Angeles are hospitalized in Madison after a collision. The couple, en route to California, are recovering in stead of continuing their trip. Police report injuries but describe them as not life threatening.

A Buick sedan carrying a family crashed seven miles north on Highway 25 Monday night after a tire blew out while traveling south at high speed. The car was badly demolished with only two wheels on the corpse. Two adults suffered bruises and cuts, Mrs Traver may have a broken back. Two children escaped uninjured.

Recover Body Of Drowning Victim LAKE ANDES

The body of Wilbur Stine a 21 year old Herrick youth who drowned in the Missouri river about 12 miles south of Geddes last Sunday afternoon was found nine oclock this morning four miles downriver from the initial site. Searching parties had scoured the river since the drowning. Stine with other boys swam about five miles south of the Wheeler bridge he slipped from a log and failed to reach shore as the water proved deep.

Sully Co-op Breaks Year Mark In 40 Days

Onida, Aug 30 Special Dur ing the 40 days beginning July 1 and ending last Saturday night, the Suny County Cooperative association took 200000 bushels of wheat Into their elevators in this city, 25600 bushels more than was brought in during the entire year of 1928. J S Foster, the manager, says that the daily amount of grain coming in to the elevators shows a little decrease. This indicates the close of the combine season.
