Vacations End as Huron Schools Set September Start
Huron city schools begin Monday September 16 with nine month terms from grades seven through 12 at 8 30 am and kindergarten to grade six at 9 00 am marking the new term. Registration at Huron College is September 14. Kindergarten enrollment requires a five year age by November 1. New kindergarten classes start in the afternoons while advanced groups meet mornings. Morning sessions shift to four periods with noon dismissal at 12 05 to allow family lunch. Afternoon sessions start 1 15 for grades and 1 25 for junior and senior high. All schools close same time with study and assemblies last period. Junior and senior high principals will be available after Labor Day for consultations. Fire destroys Redfield farm home. $5000 loss reported
Fire of undetermined origin destroyed the four mile northwest Redfield residence of E. W. McCarty yesterday afternoon. The loss is estimated at $5,000, with insurance partially covering the damage. Among the items lost were over 500 pieces of Mrs. McCarty s fancy work made since she was ten years old. No one was in the house when the blaze began as the family was in a nearby field.
