Landslide Halts Train on Rapid City Line

A landslide eight miles west of Rapid City on the Rapid City Black Hills and Western Railroad disrupted service and damaged utilities after overnight storms. Bear Gulch torrents flooded Camp Judson injuring no one, while Pactola and Nugget Gulch saw water and debris. The main slide blocked tracks about 78 feet long two feet deep and was to be cleared by noon. The Mystic passenger train was held in Rapid City. Another smaller slide occurred west of the main site. Further high water warnings followed.
