Farm Woman Is Severely Burned in Gasoline Stove Blast
Watertown reports Mrs. Lowden Sommers, 35, severely burned when a gasoline stove exploded at the Sommers farm home near South Shore yesterday. In flames she ran to the yard and rolled in grass then jumped into a water tank to extinguish the blaze. She was alone with two children as the house caught fire and neighbors aided with a bucket brigade using rain barrel water to control the blaze.

Workman Burned In Lake Preston Fire
Lake Preston fire department was called to the Chevrolet garage Tuesday afternoon and soon extinguished the flames. While cleaning a truck engine with gasoline, ignition was believed caused by an electric light bulb used for lighting, causing the gasoline to explode and burn Harold McLain’s hands quite badly. The fire caused little damage to the truck or garage.
