Spangle given eight year term in fatal Miller fight
John Spangle of Miller was sentenced to eight years in the state penitentiary at Sioux Falls after pleading guilty to the stabbing death of Lloyd Chamberlain during a July incident near the Hee Heights dump grounds. Chamberlain and Spangle had a fight after drinking beer. Chamberlain died two days later.

Wayland Girl Injured After Horse Kicks
A four year old girl, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Tucker of eight miles southwest of Wayland, was kicked by a horse. The facial bridge was injured and several stitches were needed. Parents were away in Minnesota when the accident happened and returned home the next day.
