Ten Mile Federal Highway Connects Ft. Thompson to Highmore
The Jarvin and Howe Construction Company have completed a ten mile federal highway segment north from Ft. Thompson through Crow Creek Reservation in western Buffalo county. grading crews move to Tyndall for a twelve mile project. The new road will be graveled this fall with abundant local gravel. Deadwood Aug 15 A wooden bar Jey fork displayed at Adams Memorial hall traces its manufacture to 1876 by Town Farming Tool company. The Hawkeye Barley Fork from American Fork and Hoe company of Fort Madison Iowa, patented in 1876, sold across Wisconsin Minnesota Iowa and Dakota until late 1880s. The wooden fork was abandoned as steel forks proved lighter and better balanced. The fork is preserved in the museum for its prior utility.
