Contracts awarded for 12 gravel resurfacing projects in SD

Pierre Aug 10. Twelve contracts totaling about 140 miles of federal and state highways across 9 counties were awarded by the state highway commission secretary Frank D. Kriebs. The $4 085 million program aims to maximize local employment with multiple county projects including Marshall, Roberts, Kingsbury, Bon Homme, Faulk, Beadle, Clark, Charles Mix, and Minnehaha. Kriebs noted more contracts to follow to relieve unemployment, with expected federal funds supporting road work.

Pierre August 10 New specifications for distillate to curb sale in forms usable in silemobiles will take effect in Sept The definitions drawn by the state secretary of agriculture and state chemist respond to complaints that products sealed distillate but usable in motor vehicles were taxed less by avoiding gasoline tax Distillate is defined as a petroleum product of certain refining range similar to kerosene excluding kerosene mineral seal oil or other illuminating oils.

Wheat meeting held at Burdette to discuss allotment plan

In Burdette hall farmers from four districts Wheaton Carleton Holden and Burdette gathered to learn the wheat allotment plan. John Herman presided in the absence of the regular chairman. One Is Killed In Automobile Crash Near Faith

An accident 18 miles west of Faith left one man dead and seven others seriously injured. George Lemmel, 38, died in the collision when a car carrying six passengers, without lights, was struck by another vehicle driven by Glenn Weiss. Lemmel suffered fatal head injuries. Mrs Rotterbaucher was cut on the head, and her baby sustained a fractured leg. Weiss also suffered painful injuries.

Wessington Springs Lowers High School Tuition

Wessington Springs high school tuition for 1932 33 is reduced to 10 per month from 13 50 per month. County Superintendent Earl C Gregory approved the figures. Tuition is based on school expenses and student numbers, computed annually with townships required to pay.
