State banking system gains in South Dakota
South Dakota’s state chartered banks show stronger liquidity and deposits in the first half of 1934. Banking Superintendent Frank R. The 1933 banking holiday laid the groundwork for steady improvement and stricter standards, with 14 banks not reopening after the closure. A separate Erwin incident notes H. J. Pauls injured when a car jack failed and the vehicle fell on his foot.
