WOONSOCKET Aug. 3 Large and small fish died in Lake Prior this week. Officials attribute the loss to gas from decaying moss in the lake. Every year some fish are destroyed. a bass over five pounds was found ashore. Tuesday Mayor Hobart estimated about thirty bass weighing two pounds each along the shore.

Hellwig brothers test electric threshing near Menno

John and Edward Hellwig on farms six miles east of Menno thresh grain with electric power. Northwestern Public Service Co of Yankton installed equipment to show practicability and cheapness of electric threshing. After a 10 hour run the meter showed 120 kilowatts used costing $4.20 or 42 cents per hour. This is under half the cost of power from a faseline engine.

Woonsocket report states Central West Public Service plans a new power unit at the local power house. An identical 600 horsepower Busch-Sulzer diesel engine with Westinghouse generator will be added on the east side, doubling total plant capacity to 1200 horsepower.
