Washington April 22 The senate judiciary committee appointed a sub committee to take up ten district and circuit court nominations including Carlisle D Wilbur former secretary of the navy under Coolidge for an additional judge seat in the ninth circuit. Archibald K Gardner of South Dakota eighth circuit district judge and Lee Wyman also suggested for South Dakota district court were among those forwarded. Dayton April 23. David Ingalls assistant secretary of the navy for aviation recounted a hazardous flight from Washington that ended with a wreck and a close escape. He landed first near Frederick Maryland, then Somerset Pennsylvania, and finally Seaton’s Lake Pennsylvania where the plane overturned but he escaped unharmed. He salvaged the aircraft and continued with travel plans.

Weather forced a one week postponement and sixty two calves are being bought for Beadle county youths. The buyers were appointed by the Beadle County Bankers association with funds provided as aid for club workers. They expect to be away at least a week.

Excursion Rates Announced For Into the Air Celebrations
Special excursion rates from all points in South Dakota on the Chicago and North Western railway will cut fares to about 134 cents per mile, roughly half the normal 3.6 cents per mile. Celebrations run Rapid City April 23 Pierre April 30 Huron May 1 Watertown May 2 as part of Into the Air week marking South Dakota’s first regular airline opening.
