Measles Quarantine Hits Camp Claiborne Sports and Duties
At Camp Claiborne Louisiana the C Company faces a measles quarantine with no weekend leaves. Private Vay A. Winders is hospitalized. Major McCarthy says the quarantine may lift early next week if no new cases emerge. Despite restrictions, C Company’s softball team beat Sturgis 4-2 and 5-3 as pitching by Max Bloomberg and timely hitting fueled the wins. Amateur night at the 109th Engineers hall features singing and weight lifting, while carpenters build a wooden rang ehouse and 100 frame targets for a new rifle range. Truck drivers, including Robert Devers and others, receive daily driving duties and instruction.
