Alexander Young was announced by the Bulletin as the new Minister of the Interior yesterday afternoon and attended a cabinet meeting before noon. He told reporters he had not studied major questions yet and would ensure Hawaiians receive what is due them, emphasizing they may be overlooked in government affairs.
Five Chinese students aboard the China on its last trip carried certificates to proceed to Honolulu. The documents are described as under Chinese exclusion laws. The students were sent onward to San Francisco and must return to China. Two affidavits were issued by a Hawaiian government official appointed by the Finance Minister to assist Special Agent Brown.
