The Hawaiian Relief Society held a morning auction to clear household goods and surplus kitchenware from Bethel Street premises. Proceeds, reported around 39 dollars, support distressed Ha waiian families and ongoing relief projects while the society considers formal incorporation.
The undersigned government dredger employees accuse Captain Paul Seith of gross dishonesty. They allege that on about August fifteenth, 1895, forty tins of opium were found at Oceanic wharf, turned over to Seith and later sold to private parties with no report to officials. In November at the railroad wharf, Seith allegedly ordered lumber from the dredger for a private fence and chicken house at his Fort Street residence, using government material and unpaid labor billed to the payroll, amounting to about 24 dollars in loss to the government.
