The Malka and Hale plantations on Maui expand irrigation across 5000 acres with a multi reservoir system and new pumping plants. Eight reservoirs store millions of gallons, powering a modern mill with 674 workers, 146 cane cars, and rail lines upgraded to 3 foot gauge. The plan targets 700 tons of raw sugar for 1902 with two grades produced and ships via Kaisha to New York and San Francisco.
Paia Plantation sits ten miles from Walluki in the Halku and Haw bo district alongside Puls sugar lands totaling about 800 acres. The 1903 crop is forecast at roughly 7600 tons of raw sugar with 800 acres planted in cane and 600 acres in long-stemmed varieties. Lahaina variety dominates with major plantings of 6700 acres area on the plantation and some Rose Ham and Meochee varieties also present.
Wailuku Sugar Co manages about 1,184 acres on Mani Island with 57 acres suitable for cane and 2866 acres currently planted? The Mountain and Lahatas varieties cover most land, with planting dating back 31 years. Soil is black loam, elevations range from 30 to 60 feet, crop matures in roughly 18 months and is moved by steam locomotives and railroads across six miles of track plus three miles of port tracks.

Company to negotiate for more lands, plant 900 acres now, mainly Lalaina with some Yellow Caledonia. Water from Huelo O Mor kupana Waipio valleys irrigates fields. 160-200 men employed, cane harvest to rise. 500 acres to come off later this year. New mill designed by Risdon Iron Works San Francisco and erected under F B Duff, featuring a 20 inch vacuum pan and Deming clarifier, 9,000 gpm, conveyors, tramway, and Corliss engine.
