Honolulu wire reports from Hilo on November 25 1903 noting Halemaumau crater eruption at 600 AM. Crater observer says lava fountaining to the lake 60 to 125 feet, crater lake surface very active, with further conditions to be wired later. Richard H Trent transmitted the bulletin.
Bulletin announces annual Newsboys Day with a trolley ride to King Street end, football game attendance, a Thanksgiving feast, and a special car return to the Bulletin office. Scheduled start tomorrow at 8 AM with buses to Monsulin and a 2 PM game kickoff. Hart & Co hosts another trolley ride and rapid transit trip for the boys amid busy town celebrations.
Governor Carter announced appointments for Public Works and Land Commissioner, naming C. Holloway and J. W. Pratt. The central committee recommendations were approved except for two senior posts, with Holloway defending his fitness amid opposition and Pratt praised for land department suitability.
Peters argues lack of jurisdiction in habeas corpus matter brought by J W Cathcart for Got e a Japanese man jailed for liquor selling without a license. Attorney General contends amended law allows writs only by designated courts. Judge Gear plans further argument Monday as Thanksgiving Day approaches.
