Driver Fined After Liquor Spree Ends in Theft
A police court fined a driver two dollars and costs for overindulgence in spirits after a night of merriment with a sailor. The sailor seized a chance to steal the horse and buggy, later selling it to Ab Hoy for liquor money. Hoy held the custody papers and the bill of sale while the driver pursued the missing rig with Marshal Brown’s help. Officer Harry Evans then arrested Sweeney, who had deserted from the Zealandia, while the driver pressed a warrant for him, naming him as the buyer of the buggy.

The Austrian armored cruiser Maria Theres has been ordered to Guha to protect Austro Hungarian interests.
