Kahuku Murder Trial and Maui Sugar Company Formation

Indictments for the March 26 murder of Choo Foon Wing in Oahu were presented against five defendants. The judge denied motions to dismiss and pursue separate trials. five pleaded guilty with trial set. Separately a liquor case yielded a $100 fine. A new Maui Sugar Company, capitalized at 250,000 dollars, formed by Wong Quai and T Kat Poo, plans 1500 acres at Huelo Maui and aims to raise 25 dollars per share with 625 dollars due June 25.

The Eliu Thomson, 620 miles from San Francisco, signaled distress at 4 21 AM on April 30. Passengers and crew were transferred, provisions sent aboard in anticipation of relief, and the Thomson proceeded to San Francisco after repairs and departure from Seattle.

British American Line Schedules Port Albert Departure and Garonne Return

The Port Albert will sail from Seattle on June 11 creating a three week service gap. Elihu Thomson or a substitute will replace a larger vessel during the interruption. The Garonne departs next Tuesday at 6 pm via Hilo with a brief stop for passengers returning from vacation as delays affect the fleet.
